A few months ago, I was at a 90’s-themed dance party with some friends when this guy stole the show with a crowd-stopping dance to Nirvana.
Fast forward a bit, and I started seeing him at my gym. We’d exchange quick greetings—nothing more, just casual nods of familiarity.
But last week, something changed.
He told me he had a job interview he was really excited about. I wished him luck and went back to my workout, thinking nothing of it.
This week, he spotted me again—but this time, he sprinted over to tell me he got the job.
He was glowing with joy, absolutely giddy, and it was kind of adorable.
Here’s the thing: I didn’t even know what the job was, and I didn’t really care.
But he just wanted someone to share the excitement with, so we celebrated together.
And somewhere in that moment, something unexpected happened—I started to care.
As we celebrated his win, I could feel his excitement rub off on me.
When he told me it felt like things in his life were finally coming together, I found myself genuinely hoping that was true for him.
It’s a reminder: positive emotions are contagious.
Hope, joy, excitement—they can spread like wildfire, even if they’re not your own.
So next time someone shares a win with you, big or small, celebrate with them.
You might find their positivity brightens your day, too. And who doesn’t need more of that?
