Takeaway: I can recall a few moments in my past where I felt a sudden and overwhelming surge of gratitude, happiness, and joy for my life. I’m not sure when the next such moment will strike, but I look forward to welcoming it just as I’d embrace an old friend.
I can recall a few moments in my past where I felt a sudden and overwhelming surge of gratitude, happiness, and joy for my life.
A couple of these moments physically put me on my ass, where I had to sit on the nearest bench or chair because my legs had become weak.
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve felt these moments. No one that was with me at the time will have known it was happening.
I never knew when these moments were going to hit, but I’m glad I had the presence to be able to sit and enjoy them as I glanced around the room to take it all in.
Each occurrence was under a different set of circumstances: On a sunny day or during a rainstorm. During the day or at night. Traveling abroad or sitting at home.
The one commonality shared across all of these moments is that I was with friends.
I’m not sure when the next such moment will strike, but I look forward to welcoming it just as I’d embrace an old friend.
