I was a terrible friend in my twenties.
By that I mean, I was an absent friend.
Diligently focused on the growth of my career, I sacrificed a lot of relationships. And then, during my hardest moments, I was alone.
I’ve thought a lot about friendship over the past few years. This quote I read recently stood out to me:
“It's not about knowing what to say. It's about being there when nobody knows what to say. The only thing people need to hear is, "You are not alone." And that doesn't require words. It just requires your presence.” - James Clear
The most important way to keep your friendships alive: show up.
