Takeaway: Your intrinsic value doesn’t save you from becoming a liability to the people you care about most. You can become more of an asset by developing yourself physically and mentally.
A question I’ve been pondering myself lately:
As a person, how often am I an asset versus a liability?
In my daily social interactions, am I injecting my fair share of positive energy into these interactions, or am I selfishly sucking all of the positive out in order for myself to feel good?
In my business, how often am I an asset helping to push the business forward? Conversely, how often are my fears, ego, or lack of knowledge holding it back?
If there were a zombie apocalypse, would a group of strangers consider me an asset to help them survive, or would I be a liability that would potentially ruin their survivability? (What if that group were my family and friends?)
It is undeniable that humans have intrinsic value outside of what they can offer the world through their knowledge and skills.
But under the right circumstances, your intrinsic value doesn’t save you from becoming a liability to the people you care about most.
On the other hand, you can become more of an asset by developing yourself physically and mentally. When you get in shape and build your skillset outside of the gym, you ensure that no matter what the future holds—you can be part of the solution.
